How to recycle glass

  • Empty and give a quick rinse - leftover liquid can contaminate other recyclables which may mean they aren't recycled;

  • Please check with your local Council if you should remove metal and plastic caps and lids and put these in your container for recycling metals, plastics and cartons, or whether you should re-place them onto your glass bottles and jars;

  • Corks should be removed from bottles before they are recycled and can be home composted or placed in your bag or bin for non-recyclable waste;

  • At bottle banks, blue glass goes in with green glass;

  • Don’t put glass milk bottles into a bottle bank or in your glass recycling. If your milk is delivered in glass bottles, you should always return them to your milkman.
